Artists’ estates are an integral part of managing an artist’s legacy and yet little attention has been given to this area in Ireland. The sudden responsibility for an artistic legacy is not an easy role to manage.  There is a role for diverse partners in this. Private and public as well as academic institutions have an important part to play.

The Artists’ Estates Conference will bring together participants with experts from the relevant fields of artists’ legacy planning and management.  Sessions will address legal and financial considerations as well as providing practical advice around preserving, promoting and enhancing the legacy. The event is designed to provide knowledge from industry professionals sharing their insights as well as a networking opportunity for legal and financial advisors, artists, estates and art-world professionals. As well as legal and tax issues, sessions will look at the art market and the role played by museums, archives and commercial galleries. The day-long event will be essential for professionals who advise those entrusted with an artist’s legacy and will be eligible for 5 hours of Continuing Professional Development.

This initiative is a collaborative venture between IVARO, RHA and Visual Artists Ireland.
